Best of All Time Low

This list is the just 10 of the best tracks from All Time Low. Yes, I put this together last minute, because I totally spaced what day it was ๐Ÿคฆ๐Ÿป‍♀️๐Ÿคท๐Ÿป‍♀️

Artist & Song

Toxic Valentine

Released as a single, you won’t find it on any of ATL’s albums, but it’s well worth the search. This one is sure to get stuck in your head with its super catchy chorus.

Shameless

12 years ago, they graced us with the So Wrong, It’s Right album, and we’ve never looked back. This track is a favorite of many because of the pure ability to dance to it. Great song.

List In Stereo

You’ll get lost in this song to the point you’ll put it on repeat all day long. The background is louder than normal, which makes the title and general message more appropriate.

Heroes

A seriously underrated track from the Dirty Work album. It’s one of the best songs they have, to be honest. Listen to the lyrics.

Guts

“Is this what it feels like finding out that I’ve got the guts to say anything?” We’ve all been there. Another great, yet underrated, track from Dirty Work.

The Reckless and the Brave

A bio, to be sure. Can you relate? If you’re like me, when a song has a single-beat pause, it’s automatically a favorite.

Missing You

Similar to How To Save A Life from The Fray, this is a great track. Appropriate for many situations.

Last Young Renegade

ATL has created the perfect storm of memory and desire. Relatively chill verses, with buildups to a smash chorus.

Weightless

Whether you prefer the original version, or the recording for the 10-year anniversary album, you can’t deny this song’s lasting impact. This is the track that brought millions to the ATL fan base.

Basement Noise

Released just this month, this track was the perfect ending to the Wakeup Sunshine album, as well as this list. And oh, that harmony at the end...

Little Big Town

Monday Album

Artist: Little Big Town

Album: The Road To Here

Year Released: 2005

Track-By-Track

Good As Gone

The harmonies these guys get into are often tight, making the song drive forward like a runaway train. When it abruptly cuts to a single voice, it’s on a whole new level. Great rhythm, hard beat, good song

Boondocks

All the hicks in the house, it’s time to show pride in your roots! This is more like two songs smashed together, which is fun. The vocal stacking at the end is super catchy.

Bones

The verses of this track are reminiscent of the old west and an impending duel. The choruses are a little more rock. A good song, but probably sounded better in theory than actuality

Bring It On Home

Ah, yes. What country album is complete without a love ballad? The feeling, the desperation. It’s everything we love about country. Great harmonies that make the song full and nicely rounded.

Wounded

And now the other side of country. The you-done-gone-did-me-wrong song. A personal favorite on this album because of the catchy melody and lyrics.

A Little More You

Ballad: the sequel. Not as chill as a typical ballad, but that’s a good thing. Perfect for dancing with your S/O.

Live With Lonesome

Could this song get any more country? Trains, heartbreak, and wallowing. Trifecta.

Mean Streak

Enter the why-are-you-like-this track. Another one that’s good, but the execution could have used a bit of tweaking.

Looking For A Reason

Ooh... love how this one starts. And it keeps building through to the chorus. Nice! This could easily work in a girl punk band, but it somehow works with twang.

Lost

And we’re back to a chill. To be perfectly honest, my mind started to wander during this. It’s not attention-grabbing in any way. Melody is so-so, lyrics are forgettable. Might get better after a few times through it.

Welcome To The Family

Looking for a laugh? This is your new go-to. Trust me.

Fine With Me

Starts out all right, gets better at the chorus. Not super catchy, but worth a listen.

Stay

Meh. If you’re into the sappy songs, you’ll love it. Personally, it makes me a bit nauseated.

Recommended?

For the most part, it’s a good album. Not a big fan of some of the songs, but nobody likes every song from every album.

Artist & Song

Faber Drive “Payday”

We all know that payday feeling. When you’re suddenly feeling like a millionaire after living on ramen for a week. A fun, light tune that’s sure to become your new favourite.

Kelly Clarkston “I Dare You”

A perfect song for what’s going on in the world right now. Great message for us all.

The Unlikely Candidates “Invincible”

Love the feel of this beat. High-energy and consistent. Perfect to get you pumped.

JENKO “Oblivion”

I’ve featured this song before, but I can’t get enough of it. It’s addictive. A style all his own that you’ll love, too.

Sara Evans “Hard To Say I’m Sorry”

A cover of one of Chicago’s greatest hits, Sara does not disappoint. Which version of this hit is your favourite?

Kings of the Wild Things “Ghost of You” [E]

If you read my feature of these lads from a while ago, you’ll know how much of a fan I am. This great tune is no different. Definitely worth checking out!

Hot Chelle Rae “Too Much”

The singles these guys have released since their smash hit of an album in 2011 have kept fans intrigued. This track is different from said album, yet somehow maintains the HCR style.

Bronnie “Over You”

Another smash release by Bronnie that you’re going to love straight away. Great tune, good lyrics, good song.

Love Again “86” [E]

An amazing debut by what I foresee to be a chart-topping band. Hit that repeat button, follow them on social media, and call yourself an original fan!

Onlychild “Chardonnay & Tangerine

ICYMI, this is the former Ready Set performer, Jordan Witzigreuter with a new look and a fabulous new sound. Releasing singles under this title since 2017, Jordan continues to wow fans with amazing work, and this is quite possibly the best yet.

Moods

Artist: Neil Diamond

Album: Moods

Year Released: 1972

Track-By-Track

Song Sung Blue

This one is perfect for those Monday blues. “Me and you are subject to the blues now and then”. Truth. “But when you take the blues and make a song, you sing em out again.” Blues happen, but they don’t need to hang around.

Porcupine Pie

This one makes exactly zero sense, and that’s why it’s fun. Forget it’s Monday with this nonsensical track. Kids from 1-99 will love this one.

High Rolling Man

Rock ‘n roll. High-energy, and dance-ready. Perfect for chasing away those cases of the Mondays.

Canta Libre

Very chill. Great for that midday meditation. It does, eventually, go into English. In case you were worried.

Captain Sunshine

Slower tune, but still good for head-bobbing.

Play Me

Just listen. Great song.

Gitchy Goomy

Another fun one that’s partially nonsense, but wholly upbeat. It’s a happy song.

Walk On Water

A bit different, but good, nonetheless. It’s one of those “love it or hate it” songs. Even if you’re not fond of the beginning, it hypes up, quite a bit.

Theme— Instrumental

Exactly what the title says it is. Nice tune.

Prelude In E Major

30-second prelude to the final track. Still worth a listen.

Morningside

“Morningside, the old man dies” is not the best way to start a song, in my opinion. Especially followed up with “no one cried”. A perfect cry song. If you’re not needing a cry, I suggest you stay far, far away from this one. An incredible song, but it doesn’t make one feel happy.

Recommended?

Yes, yes, and more YES! Neil is much more than “Sweet Caroline *bum bum bum*” Definitely one to put on your list.

Feel-Good Friday

You can support future posts by clicking here!

This list is made of songs that I, personally, listen to when I’m annoyed or upset. They’re not all vengeance or the “poor me” type. Many are just upbeat and fast-paced, and help me just forget about what’s going on. What’s on your list?

Artist & Song

Adele “Rolling in the Deep”

Ok, so the list starts out with a little vengeance. “Don’t underestimate the things that I will do” just about sums it up, sometimes.

Jon Schmidt “All of Me”

Jon Schmidt is a piano genius. If you’re not familiar with his work, I’d highly recommend fixing that. This one is just everything.

Brooks & Dunn “Boot Scootin’ Boogie”

This is one that just has a “happy” vibe. It’s catchy, upbeat, and if you know the dance to it, you can dance away your cares.

5 Seconds of Summer “No Shame”

The chorus, specifically, is one that’ll get stuck in your head, ensuring your annoyance at whatever, takes a back seat.

All Time Low “Some Kind Of Disaster”

Off ATL’s newest album, and already a favorite of millions. All Time Low has a way of making things into something else. This track is self-detrimental, but it’s fast-paced and has an upbeat sound.

All Time Low “Take Cover”

Yes, another ATL. They’re a personal favorite. I really can’t explain why this one is in this list. It just has a sound I’m particularly fond of.

Matthew Wilder “Break My Stride”

What better song for being annoyed? The chorus says it all.

One Direction “Kiss You”

Again, just a good vibe from this one. Especially if you’ve seen the hilarious, campy video.

Jo Dee Messina “My Give A Damn’s Busted”

The title says why it’s in this list.

Jake Owen “Barefoot Blue Jean Night”

Keep the good vibes coming with this country hit. Not a fan of country? That’s ok. There are other songs.

2 Unlimited “Maximum Overdrive”

This is a personal throwback to better times. The video to this one is the epitome of 90’s, but kind of fun.

Roxette “The Look”

This one, cheesy as it may sound, is kind of empowering. Just the sound of it, then you add the lyrics. Good, addictive tune.

Music of the 50’s

You can support more posts by clicking here

Last week, followers voted between 50’s and 60’s music. 50’s won, so here is one song from each year, 1950-1959.

Artist & Song

The Weavers “Goodnight Irene”

This kind of live version is fun. The crowd isn’t screaming, like they do now. They’re singing along. The song, itself, is classic. Simple, fun, and has a good melody.

Nat King Cole “Too Young”

Who doesn’t love Nat King Cole? Nobody, that’s who. His music is classic and classy, and that voice is a treasure. His style was perfect for the time, yet continues on into the 21st century.

Leroy Anderson “Blue Tango”

An orchestral piece that’s just fun to listen to. If you’re a band geek, like I am, it’s even more fun.

Percy Faith “The Song From “Moulin Rouge”” Another orchestral piece. Chill and romantic, but honestly not a fan.

Perry Como, Henri Renรฉ & His Orchestra “Wanted”

Ahh... that 1950’s harmony. There’s nothing quite like it. A good song with the usual 50’s orchestra interludes.

Pรฉrez Prado “Cherry Pink And Apple Blossom White”

This list found quite a few band/orchestra pieces. This one is fun and easy to dance to.

Elvis Presley “Heartbreak Hotel”

There’s nobody like Elvis. That’s all.

Pat Boone “Love Letters In The Sand”

A good song, until the whistling. If you’re like me, whistling just gets on your nerves. If you can get past that short part, you’ll be able to hear the last line. All in all, a good track.

David Seville “Witch Doctor”

This is the most popular version, but not the original. The original was written and recorded by Ross Bagdasarian Sr in 1957. And, yes, that’s Alvin from “Alvin and the Chipmunks”.

Johnny Horton “The Battle Of New Orleans”

American history put to music. For my American patriots, this song is about the second time King George III invaded, and subsequently, the second time he failed ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ Plus it’s catchy.

Harry Belafonte

Artist: Harry Belafonte

Album: Calypso

Year Released: 1956

Track-By-Track

Banana Boat (Day-O)

Yes, it’s the song from “Beetlejuice”. You’re welcome.

I Do Adore Her

Truth be told, the intro is a little off putting. The song, as a whole, is catchy and has cute, fun lyrics. It’s got that paradise vacation feel.

Jamaica Farewell

The simplicity of this one is definitely a mood. A chill vibe that’s perfect for your after-work relaxing.

Will His Love Be Like His Rum?

This one is just all-around fun. From the flute, to the drumbeats, to the catchy lyrics, you’ll be dancing along.

Dolly Dawn

If you’re not dancing on the second beat, we can’t be friends. I’ve said this before, but this is a fun song. This whole album, so far, is just fun. Harry has a way all his own.

Star-O

Reprise of the first track... kind of.

The Jack-Ass Song

Not what you’re thinking. About a literal jack-ass. Also called a donkey. Another super catchy one that makes it impossible to sit still.

Hosanna

Don’t be that first house. Be the second. Guaranteed you’ll be hooked on this one the first time through.

Come Back Liza

A calmer beat, but no less a jam. Another catchy smash.

Brown Skin Girl

*Do NOT get political about this* It’s what we have come to expect from this album. It’s catchy and has the evening-chill vibes you’ll be wanting after a Monday.

Man Smart (Woman Smarter)

What a way to end an album! The highest energy track on the album will have you wanting to learn ballroom dancing so you can keep up.

Recommended?

An excellent album, to be sure! Definitely 50’s, but with flair.

Hold On

Artist & Song

Wilson Phillips “Hold On”

Odds are, you’ve heard this one. Released on their self-titled debut album in 1990, this song has carried millions of people through hard times with its positive, encouraging chorus, and message of “Hold on for one more day”. Did you know that these ladies are children of members of The Beach Boys and The Mamas & The Papas?

Chord Overstreet “Hold On”

Overstreet has captured every feeling of every word he sings. A great voice, good lyrics, and fantastic backtrack make this a must-listen. Check out the remix of this song, too!

Good Charlotte “Hold On”

A sad song that captures the angst of every teenager, whether the lyrics apply or not. The drums may be a bit louder than necessary, and tend to drown out the lyrics. But then, isn’t that why we love GC?

KT Tunstall “Hold On”

You know who this is the second it starts. KT has an unmistakable style that makes you want to move. Hit that repeat button, and dance your cares away!

Jonas Brothers “Hold On”

Not gonna lie, I’m not a fan of the vocal style. It screams, “I’m musically mocking you”. Like, is it too hard to sing the way you speak? But their fan base spans millions, so they’re obviously doing something right

John Lennon “Hold On”

I’m a little afraid to say what I think here. Lennon’s devoted fans won’t like it. Go listen to it for yourself.

Alabama Shakes “Hold On”

Nope. Moving on...

Hootie & the Blowfish “Hold On”

“Only heartbreak on the 6 o’clock news, they oughta call it the 6 o’clock blues” Yep. That’s what we’re all thinking, these days. Lyrics contradict the funky melody and backtrack.

Starsailor “Hold On”

Starts out super chill, then hits hard with an excellent percussion line. Pretty good track. Highly suggest you check out more from Starsailor!

50 Cent “Hold On” [E]

No. Not now, not ever. Rap is not music. It’s in this list because of its title. If you like him, great. Go forth and listen.

Josh Groban

Artist: Josh Groban

Album: Josh Groban

Year Released: 2001

Track-By-Track

Alla Luce del Sole

Mystery, anticipation, reveal. This song really is amazing. Even if you don’t understand Italian, you can appreciate the feel of this. The chills will run up your arms with every chorus.

Gira con Me

For those who like to pretend you know every word, I’m with you. A great chill tune that still has a great flourishing chorus and great orchestration.

You’re Still You

A great message. If you’ve been through a difficult time, or are currently going through one, this is just... awesome.

Cinema Paradiso (Se)

Excellent execution, but I can’t say much about the song, itself. Not a fan of the melody or the background.

To Where You Are

For those who have lost someone close to them. Josh doesn’t just sing this emotional tune, he creates the associated feelings.

Alรฉjate

Again, great execution, poor composition. Not a fan.

Canto Alla Vita (feat. The Corrs)

The Italian/English mashup is fun. The Corrs bring a lot to this song. Considering it was already a goosebump-inducing melody, that’s saying something!

Let Me Fall -from Cirque du Soleil

A melody that can only be described as “interesting”. Not bad, but not something that really captures attention.

Vincent (Starry, Starry Night)

A nice, chill track. Grab a cup of your favorite hot drink, and melt into your couch and blanket.

Un Amore per Sempre

Still got that drink? This song is a great follow-up to the previous one. The ebb and flow of this is great. Then you get to that part. You know which one. It’s almost like two songs in one.

Home to Stay

I think the backtrack on this is underrated. It’s simple, for the most part, yet it brings the lyrics together.

Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring (feat. Lili Haydn)

Most people will recognize the main melody. A favorite of many.

The Prayer (with Charlotte Church)

Remember when this would play every five minutes on the radio? And how, after a month, everyone was begging it to stop? Well, it’s been a few years with it played only periodically. It might be safe to listen to, now. Take it slow. Baby steps.

Recommended?

An incredible debut for Mr. Groban that was hard to follow. 100% worth your time.

Let’s Get Fruity

Artist & Song

Jack Johnson “Banana Pancakes”

A great groove to start your weekend a day early. A bit nonsensical, but isn’t that why we love it? It’s definitely a sit-on-the-beach, road-tripping vibe.

Grouplove “Raspberry”

If you’re not familiar with Grouplove, this probably isn’t the best one to start with. Great album, to be sure, but start out slow. They’re an acquired taste, but once you’re hooked, there’s no going back. This track is their own brand of groovy that makes you want to throw on some tie-dye and just, well, groove.

Alexi Murdoch “Orange Sky”

Over 6 minutes long, and yet still not enough. If you’re wanting that I-need-to-be-sad-for-a-while feeling, Alexi has you covered. Great tune!

Led Zeppelin “Tangerine”

It’s Zeppelin. For most of the world, that’s enough. For the uninitiated, the 1970’s weren’t as bad as today’s oldie stations would have you believe. Check it out.

Harry Styles “Kiwi”

To be perfectly honest, this is the only track on Harry’s solo album that doesn’t make me want to stick an ice pick in my ears. It feels like he’s screaming rather than singing. That said, it’s not a lot of people’s... style (bad, I know). So don’t feel bad if you’re not digging it.

Jessie Reyez “Apple Juice”

First time hearing this. Not really impressed with Jessie’s voice or style. I honestly could not get through the whole thing. But you make your own judgement.

Shawn Wasabi, SATICA “Mango Love”

Do not, under any circumstances, allow children to learn these lyrics. That’s all I’m gonna say.

Benny Sings “Passionfruit”

If you’ve ever heard someone sing while plugging their nose, this is spot on. Relatively decent composition. All right background. Not a personal favorite.

Girl Band “Pears For Lunch”

Umm... This list just keeps nosediving. I’m sorry. I’m so, so sorry. There’s no actual singing! It’s just talking weird.

Miguel “Pineapple Skies”

Nice intro, and someone who can actually sing! Thank you, Miguel, for saving the end of this list! Not going to be everyone’s cuppa, but I’m sure this track will find a home in many playlists.
